Local MP Sir Mike Penning handed over a cheque for £2,500 to the Hospice of St Francis following his recent fundraiser held at the Saffron restaurant in the Old Town.
Sir Mike, who is Patron of the hospice, organised the fundraiser at his local restaurant near to his home in the Old Town.
“I was chatting to the owner, Ali, and we thought this could work well. I am absolutely delighted with the result and I thank Ali and his staff for all their generosity and hard work to make this event so successful, especially as Ali and his staff were fasting at the time for Ramadan.
“I thank everyone who came along, it was a great night.”
Saffron owner Ali added:
“We were very happy to do this for Sir Mike. The hospice does fantastic work for the people of Dacorum and we are keen to support them.”
Fran Martin, Head of Events at the Hospice of St Francis said:
“We continue to be so very grateful for the fabulous support we receive from Sir Mike. As a Patron for our Hospice, Mike knows only too well how important every donation is to us. We’re thrilled that in just one evening, such a tremendous amount of money was raised by local people wanting to support their local hospice and help us continue to provide the free specialist care we give to patients and their families, ensuring they live their precious lives well”.
