Galley Hill school invited Hemel Hempstead MP, Sir Mike Penning, to see their Remembrance display which, this year, commemorates the centenary of the formation of the Royal Air Force.
Sir Mike said:
“I am delighted to have come to see this very impressive display. Galley Hill has built up a remarkable reputation for producing outstanding Remembrance poppy displays.
“I am very proud that a local school is putting so much effort into remembering the incredible sacrifices on our behalf 100 years ago. This year is both the centenary of the Armistice and also the centenary of the formation of the RAF. I congratulate all who helped with the display.”
Sue Rose, Poppy Appeal Organiser and Chairman of the Royal British Legion (Hemel Hempstead) Branch said:
“It really is very important that young people are taught about the sacrifices made by previous generations and as fewer and fewer young children have family members who can recall a world war, it is pleasing to know that their sacrifices are not forgotten.”
