Hemel Hempstead MP, Sir Mike Penning, has sworn his oath of allegiance to His Majesty King Charles III in the Chamber of the House of Commons this morning.

Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP has invited all MPs who wish to do so to swear an oath of allegiance to the new King. Whilst not strictly necessary as the oath MPs have previously made included ‘heirs and successors’ many MPs have taken the opportunity to reaffirm their allegiance to the new monarch.

Speaking afterwards, Sir Mike said:

“It was a great honour and privilege to swear my oath of allegiance as the MP for Hemel Hempstead to King Charles III earlier today.”
