Mike Penning hosted the launch of Kids Count – a grass-roots think tank aiming to find practical solutions to the broad spectrum of issues that affect children and young people in urban and rural communities.

At a launch reception in the House of Commons, Mike Penning, MP for Hemel Hempstead, chaired and hosted the launch of children’s and young person’s think tank, ‘Kids Count’.

Introducing the think tank, Mike Penning said:
“Kids Count is a cross party think tank that is looking at policies that puts children and young people first.”

He added:
“As a father I understand all to well the pressures place on a family but for so many kids there is no family and that is where kids Count can make such a difference.”

The guest speakers at the launch were Rt Hon Theresa May MP, the Shadow Leader of the House of Commons and Kevin Everard, Project Director of “Be Safe” Project. The event was attended by representatives of a number of children’s organisations including the Damilola Taylor Trust and the National Youth Parliament.
