MP’s award themselves an 80-day summer holiday.

Mike Penning, the hard working newly elected MP for Hemel Hempstead constituency was shocked about the additional two weeks summer recess announced by Commons leader Geoff Hoon last week. When interviewed by Daily Express reporter, Kirsty Walker Mike commented; “I was shocked when I heard the recess was going to be that long, when we’ve just had the Prime Minister telling us that he has been listening to the hard-working people of Britain. The public clearly want MP’s to roll up their sleeves and get on with it, and some of us were looking forward to doing that.”

Mike plans to take a two week vacation in the summer with his family and to spend the remaining period of the elongated recess in the constituency visiting as many people, organisations and bodies as he can.
