Mike Penning is one of 7 MPs nominated as “Business-friendly MP of the year” by the Forum of Private Business.

The Forum for Private Business has launched an award for the MP or MEP who influence or change policies relating to smaller businesses. The award is sponsored by the nine Regional Development Agencies. The result will be announced at a reception on Tuesday, 16th May.

Mike Penning, the MP for Hemel Hempstead, has been nominated by a local businessman for his work in supporting businesses affected by the Buncefield Oil Depot explosion. Mike has fought for compensation and support for local residents and businesses forced to relocate or in other ways affected by the explosion and subsequent fire.

Mike Penning said:
“I am honoured to have been nominated. I am a keen supporter of smaller businesses – they are the backbone of economic prosperity in the Hemel Hempstead area and many have been put under enormous pressures as a result of the Buncefield explosion. I am committed to working to ensure that the Buncefield Inquiry results in a situation that will restore confidence in the local business community.”
