Mike Penning, Conservative parliamentary candidate today paid his £500 election deposit at the Civic Centre Hemel Hempstead in one pound coins.
Mike Penning explained,
“Today was special for me. After two years of working in the constituency at last the time has come to pay my deposit and stand in the election. It worries me that if the people give Mr Blair a third term, I may have to pay my deposit in Euro’s at the next election and so I took the opportunity to pay this time in my favourite currency – the pound sterling. Tony Blair is committed to joining the Euro. Conservatives will never scrap the pound.”
