Last week Mike Penning, Hemel’s new MP, visited the Dacorum Citizens Advice Bureau and agreed to support their initiative on debt counselling.

Mike said:

“I think that the CAB do an excellent job and I told them so. I was delighted that our Borough Council found the £20,000 to help them fund specialist advice on debt counselling. Debt is a real and growing problem and there are so few places that people can go to get help. I was delighted when it was agreed that my constituency staff could receive specialised training from them on debt counselling and in return I was happy to agree for my staff to receive referrals from them of other problems where they think that we may be able to help. It makes so much sense that we work together as closely as possible to help constituents”

Mike also agreed to speak with as many financial corporations and institutions as possible with a view to encouraging them to make their debt expertise available to the Citizens Advice Bureau.
