Mike Penning opens Grove House charity shop.

Mike Penning MP was the guest of honour at the opening of the Grove House charity shop in Marlowes on Friday, 25th November. Mike Penning cut the ribbon and declared the shop open and afterwards free tea and cakes were offered to volunteer workers and shoppers in the store.

Grove House is a Day Hospice in St Albans and offers care and support for people suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in St Albans, Harpenden and Hemel Hempstead.

In this latest retail venture, Grove House has teamed up with Isabel Hospice of Welwyn, opening their fourth charity shop together. Grove House chose Hemel Hempstead because about 30% of its patients come from the town.

At the opening, John Husbands of Isabel Trading and John Williams Chairman of the Trustees of Grove House both thanked all their staff the hard work put in to open the store.

Mike Penning said “The Hospice movement is very close to my heart. My family have seen first-hand the wonderful care and support offered in a hospice.”
